CROWN HEIGHTS — Hear a symphony, join a new food co-op, find your new favorite band or support a local gallery this weekend in a Crown Heights  a busy time for the neighborhood’s cultural hot spots.

If you're looking for something to do this weekend, options include checking out the CMJ Music Marathon, hearing Mozart performed at the Brooklyn Museum and, maybe, winning some original artwork. Here are the details:

CMJ at Friends and Lovers

A host of bands and singers have performed at the Classon Avenue venue Friends and Lovers this week as part of the CMJ Music Marathon, but this Saturday is the space’s “Official Day Showcase,” featuring a free daytime show from the Brooklyn-based dream pop band Tiger Dare and the Florida-bred, Queens-based act Boyd Shropshire, self-described as “psychedelic pop and noise-folk.” Later on in the evening, the venue will host a 7 p.m. show from the Russian-born singer Ambe and a 10 p.m. show with the electro-pop duo Clementine and the Galaxy.

Symphony Season Opener

The Brooklyn Symphony Orchestra, the borough’s all-volunteer orchestra, will get their 2014-2015 season started with a performance of Mozart and Brahms at the Brooklyn Museum this Sunday. The show will begin at 2 p.m. with Mozart’s “Jupiter Symphony,” Symphony No. 41 in C, and move on to Brahms’ Violin Concerto in D, event organizers said. Tickets for the show cost $20 for adults and $10 for seniors and museum members.

Co-Op Open House

The Lefferts Community Food Co-Op, a new cooperative food market trying to get off the ground in southern Crown Heights, will have an open house this Sunday at its newly renovated store on Empire Boulevard near Nostrand Avenue. The event will include a tour of the new space, a question-and-answer session with current members and free samples and refreshments, event organizers said. The open house will take place Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 324 Empire Blvd. and is free and open to the public.

Five Myles Benefit

Crown Heights’ local gallery and arts space, Five Myles, is holding its annual benefit fundraiser this Sunday night featuring the donated work of nearly 100 local artists, all of which will be given to attendees who purchase a $200 raffle ticket for the event. The artwork that will be given away at the event has been on display at Five Myles since Oct. 13 and will be shown there until the event. The benefit will take place between 4 and 7 p.m. Sunday; tickets can be purchased here.
