UPPER WEST SIDE — Police are searching for a thief who robbed $170 from a livery cab driver on West 106th Street, the NYPD said.

The suspect was riding in the backseat of the cab when he reached up and stole the cash from the 60-year-old male driver on Aug. 22 at 12:40 p.m., police said.

The driver tried to stop him, but the thief then jumped out of the cab and fled east along West 106th Street towards Amsterdam Avenue, the NYPD said.

Police described the suspect as being in his mid-20s, standing 5-foot-10 and weighing 155 pounds. He was wearing a gray polo shirt with a yellow collar, jeans, a white belt and blacks shoes, police noted.
