GREENPOINT — Expect McGolrick Park to be flush with yellow next spring after a local parks group plants 1,000 daffodil bulbs there Saturday.

New bulbs haven't been planted at the 110 Russell St. park for many years, according to Martha Holstein of the McGolrick Park Neighborhood Alliance.

Planting the daffodils will beautify the park and be an active way for locals to thank elected officials who helped bring $1.3 million in funding to replace the park's playground, Holstein said.

Councilman Steve Levin awarded the park $750,000 from participatory budgeting money and discretionary funding, while Borough President Eric Adams kicked in $500,000 for the $2 million project.

The McGolrick Park Neighborhood Alliance formed earlier this year in part to help replace the deteriorating playground.

"We want to see the park look as beautiful as it can," Holstein said.

All are welcome to join in the planting process.

Neighbors and local elected officials will be planting the bulbs on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the center of the park. Refreshments will be provided.
