FRESH MEADOWS — A man harassed three female students near St. John's University this month, asking two of them if they "worked out" and making comments about their veins, according to a memo from school's public safety office.

He tried to take a picture of a third, the note said.

The school's Department of Public Safety issued the notice on Sept. 28 after the women complained that they were hassled in separate off-campus incidents.

In two of the cases, the suspect asked the women if they "worked out," according to the university.

The man then went on to comment on the women's "veins" and asked "if they always pop out like that," according to the memo.

The first woman was approached on Sept. 15 at 2 p.m. in front of Union Turnpike and 177th Street. Another student was hassled on Union Turnpike and Surrey Place on Sept. 22 at 12:50 p.m, according to the memo.

The suspect approached the third student inside the Barnes & Noble at 176-60 Union Turnpike on Sept. 26 at 1:35 p.m., the memo said.

In one case, he tried to take a photo of the student but didn't speak to her. It wasn't clear which incident that was.

A formal complaint was filed with the 107th Precinct after the Sept. 22 exchange, according to the NYPD, but police didn't have a record of the other two.

In the incident reported to the NYPD, the woman told the man to leave her alone and he backed off, according to police.

The suspect followed each of the students back toward the same campus gate while on his phone, but he didn't touch them or get onto campus, the memo said.

The man is described as being in his mid to late 20s, 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8, with light brown or blond hair, blue eyes and a goatee, public safety officials said.

St. John's University has its own public safety offices at each gate but refers criminal incidents to the 107th Precinct, according to its website.

A spokeswoman for the university said it is working with the NYPD on the matter.
