Man Fatally Struck While Walking on LIE, Police Say

QUEENS — A man was killed Wednesday morning when he was hit by a car while walking down the middle lane of the Long Island Expressway in Flushing, police said.

The 35-year-old man, whose name was not released, was walking in the westbound lanes and had just reached the point where the LIE crosses the Grand Central Parkway about 3:15 a.m. when a green Ford hit him, according to the NYPD.

His was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The driver remained on the scene and was not immediately charged, though police said their investigation was ongoing.
