THE BRONX — A man died Sunday morning after a livery cab knocked him over on Pelham Parkway and a second car slammed into him and drove off, police said.

Rony Mejia, 26, was crossing the parkway near White Plains Road when a 50-year-old livery driver, who was heading west, hit him about 1 a.m., according to the NYPD.

Mejia was lying in the roadway when a second car struck him and drove away, police said. Investigators initially believed that it may have been a second livery cab, an NYPD spokesman said.

Mejia, who lived in Baychester, was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital and pronounced dead, police said.

The 50-year-old livery driver, whose name was not released, stayed on the scene and was not arrested or issued any tickets, an NYPD spokesman said.

Investigators were still trying to find the second driver Monday, the spokesman said.
