LOWER EAST SIDE — YO! Bus has expanded its service to include weekend trips to Washington, D.C.

The low-cost bus company, which is run by Greyhound and Peter Pan Bus Lines, started offering trips between New York and the nation’s capital on July 25. Buses make four round trips on Fridays and Sundays between the company’s bus stop at 2 Pike St. and Union Station in Washington, spokeswoman Carolyn Daly said.

“We have had many, many requests to go to D.C.,” she said, explaining the expansion. “It’s a very popular destination, especially on weekends.”

Tickets cost $25 each way and may be purchased through the YO! Bus website or at the company's new storefront at 95 E. Broadway. The 1,000-square-foot space is ten times larger than its former storefront across the street and can fit 80 people in the waiting area, Daly said.

YO! Bus opened in 2012 and currently runs between New York and Philadelphia, Boston and Washington, D.C., Daly said.
