BROOKLYN — A Bed-Stuy man was fatally shot and a fire erupted in his apartment in an attack that also wounded a second man, officials said.

Qasim Mitchell, 24, was found with a gunshot wound to his head as first responders battled a fire that broke out in his first floor apartment at 885 Gates Ave., in the Stuyvesant Gardens Houses, about 4:30 p.m. Sunday, the FDNY and NYPD said.

He was taken to Woodhull hospital and pronounced dead, police said.

Police found another man, whose name was not immediately released, in a courtyard behind the apartment with gunshot wounds to his shoulder and torso, the NYPD said.

He was taken to Kings County Hospital where he's listed in stable condition, police said.

No arrests had been made as of Monday morning, police said.

Investigators were still trying to piece together what caused the violence and the fire, officials said.

Mitchell knew the second victim, but a police spokesman didn't know the extent of their relationship.
