SOUTH STREET SEAPORT — It's about to get icy in the Seaport.

A free, open-air ice rink is slated to open at Fulton and Front streets on Nov. 29, Seaport owner Howard Hughes Corporation confirmed.

The rink is set to run through March, and it will be open daily to from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Skate rentals will be available, but the price of the skates hasn't been decided yet, according to a Howard Hughes spokesman.

The spokesman declined to say how big the rink will be and how many people it will be hold at once.

The rink’s opening day will coincide with the lighting of a Seaport Christmas tree at 6 p.m.

Adding to the holiday cheer, carolers will perform at the rink Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays throughout the winter.

The rink’s opening is part of several winter events and pop-up shops Howard Hughes is planning at the Seaport to help keep the Hurricane Sandy-battered neighborhood active during the winter months, especially as the Pier 17 mall is being torn down.

More details about the rink and other winter activities will be announced soon, the spokesman said.

The Seaport rink will join another new Downtown rink at Battery Park City's Brookfield Place, which is slated to open in mid-November.
