WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — A brazen thief snatched an iPhone from a straphanger aboard a 1 train earlier this month, police said.

The victim was aboard a downtown 1 train at the West 157th Street subway station on April 13 when just after 7 p.m. the suspect grabbed the phone, according to the NYPD.

The thief, described as being being 18 to 20 years old, fled as the train doors were closing, cops said.

The suspect, who was wearing a black T-shirt, brown shorts and black and red sneakers, was captured on surveillance camera, police said.

The theft comes after a man was attacked by a teenager with nunchucks in January at the same station. No arrests have been made in that crime, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). All calls are strictly confidential.
