11 Injured When Vehicle Slams Into MTA Bus, FDNY Says

HARLEM — Eleven people were injured, five seriously, when a vehicle slammed into the front of a city bus near West 135th Street, officials said.

The M10 bus was at the southbound bus stop on Eighth Avenue about 6:45 a.m. when a vehicle also heading south tried to make a u-turn, an MTA official said.

A third vehicle heading north tried to swerve out of the way but slammed head-on into the left bumper of the bus, the transit official said.

Eleven people were injured in the accident and taken to various area hospitals including Harlem Hospital Center, Mount Sinai Hospital, St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital Center, an FDNY spokesman said.

Five people were seriously injured, five suffered minor injuries, but none of the injuries appear to be life-threatening, fire officials said. One person refused medical treatment at the scene.
