Staten Island Boy Suffers Head Injury in Sledding Collision with Tree

TOMPKINSVILLE — A 10-year-old boy sledding in Tompkinsville after Winter Storm Nemo was rushed to a hospital after smashing into a tree, the FDNY reported.

The boy, sledding in Silver Lake Golf Course near Victory Boulevard, careened into the tree about 4:15 p.m., witnesses and a fire source said.

He was strapped to a backboard and rushed to St. Vincent's Hospital.

His condition was not immediately available.

Sledding at golf courses is illegal, according to the city Parks Department web site.
