Queens Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run, Police Say

JAMAICA — A Queens woman was struck by a vehicle and left for dead just steps from her Jamaica home in an apparent hit-and-run Wednesday evening, the NYPD reported.

Maria Beria, 30, was crossing 111th Avenue near 147th Street when she was hit about 6:50 p.m., police said.

She was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

Police said the vehicle, which was white, was driving west at the time of the incident. Authorities have not made any arrests, and the investigation was ongoing.
