THE BRONX — The 25-year-old woman accused of using an SUV to run over and kill her 17-year-old boyfriend Franklyn Hernandez — a boy whom she once babysat — was arraigned Thursday.

Jasmine Diaz was arraigned in Bronx Criminal Court Thursday on charges of first- and second-degree manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident.

Authorities said she and Hernandez, her boyfriend of two years, argued over a cell phone early Wednesday near their Morris Avenue home. That heated fight drove Diaz to get behind the wheel of a Lincoln Aviator, run over the boy and bolt from the scene, police said.

"I loved her, and I still love her," Yolanda Santos, 20, Hernandez's sister, said Thursday morning. "But my brother didn't deserve to be killed over a phone."

Diaz, who was arraigned before Judge Ann Scherzer, remained held without bail, prosecutors said.

The attorney who represented her Thursday, William Schwartz, could not be reached for comment.

Diaz is due back in court June 12.
