WOODSIDE — He's played the biggest halls in the world, but he never forgets his roots.

Famed bachata singer Frank Reyes will thrill local fans this Valentine's Day with a concert at La Boom nightclub on Northern Boulevard.

Reyes, who was born in the Dominican Republic, bills himself as the prince of bachata, or "el principe de la bachata" in Spanish. He is famous for his mastery of Bachata music, which is often romantic and filled with tales of heartbreak or sadness.

Reyes became a household name in many Latin communities thanks in part to a 2002 concert in Santo Domingo, where he serenaded crowds in the ampitheater of the one of the city's most famous hotels, the Jaragua.

La Boom is located at 56-15 Northern Boulevard. Doors open at 9 p.m. for the concert. For more information, call (718) 726-6646.
