MANHATTAN — The birth of Blue Ivy Carter had the Internet buzzing with debate about whether Beyonce's much-watched pregnancy was a hoax.

The speculation reached a fever pitch Tuesday when a photograph supposedly showing the "Single Ladies" singer with her newborn daughter emerged on Twitter.

"im tired of seeing that photoshopped picture of beyonce holding the baby," wrote @liehrxqkqc3. "its clearly fake. the skin."

And @_XoxoKD_ w wrote: "Supposedly there's a picture of beyonce & her baby already on the internet. Idk if it's real or fake but if it is real, her baby is too cute."

The secrecy surrounding the baby's birth at Lenox Hill Hospital on Saturday has generated a swirl of rumors, as commenters across the web speculated on whether Beyonce was ever actually pregnant.

"Snap! RT @hipsterrunoff: Jay-Z writes song about his fake baby with Beyonce bc the baby is a marketing project," tweeted @andrea_lance.

And @hipsterrunoff wrote: "TWITTER POLL: Is Jay-Z & Beyonce's baby a) real b) fake c) alien d) adopted e) robot f) muppet g) OTHER?"

One conspiracy theory is that she and husband Jay-Z hired a surrogate mother.

Teams of beefy, black-suited security guards disappeared from Lenox Hill Hospital early Tuesday, escorting out the superstar couple and their daughter, the hospital confirmed.

The family left some time after 5 p.m. Monday, according to Barbara Osborn, media relations director for Lenox Hill.

A witness told the New York Daily News that the stars departed in a pair of SUVs with blacked-out windows that sped from the hospital's loading dock around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday.
