CHELSEA — Grab your hammer, bib and crab cracker, the city's first Maryland-style, all-you-can-eat crab fest is coming to Chelsea this weekend.
The first-ever, three-day-long Hammer & Claws Blue Crab Feast gives diners five different opportunities to partake in the crab cornucopia over the weekend, with seatings on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at the Chelsea Tunnel Warehouse at 269 11th Ave.
Organizers said the feast is modeled on the kind of no-holds-barred crab-hammering festivals that are a staple of Maryland in the summer and fall.
In traditional Maryland fashion, roughly 25,000 crabs will be held and steamed alive, then doused in Old Bay seasoning before being given to attendees.
Diners can also snack on corn on the cob, pickles, cornbread, and kosher hot dogs. If that wasn't enough, there's also all-you-can-drink craft beer and cocktails.
All that comes for a steep price — tickets are $118 per adult and $45 for kids aged six to 12. Organizers are offering a 20 percent discount to teachers, city employees, and civil service workers such as police officers and firefighter, and crab-crazed kids under six eat free.
