MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — A former cop accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in his uptown apartment pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Thursday.

Darrin Nemelc, 44, was indicted on charges of rape, criminal sex act and sex abuse for an alleged New Year's Day incident on Riverside Avenue at 155th Street.

Nemelc told police he was just letting the young girl in because she looked disheveled and needed to use the bathroom, according to court papers.

"She was acting weird and was spaced out and was crying," Nemelc allegedly said.

Prosecutors said he "grabbed her by the arm and ordered her to come with him" to his apartment.

"The defendant's DNA was found on her body," Assistant District Attorney Rena Paul said at Nemelc's brief appearance in Manhattan Supreme Court on Thursday

Nemlec's lawyer told the judge what allegedly occurred between them may have been consensual.

Nemlec was allowed to remain free on $100,000 bail.
