MIDTOWN — Two women who were hit in the face by a rogue stage prop during a 2009 performance of "Billy Elliot: The Musical", are suing the production for $4 million, the New York Post reported.
Elaine Rosen, 54, and Cynthia Noblit, 60, both from Kansas City, were sitting in the front row of the theater when they were hit by a plastic crate that came flying off the stage, the Post reported.
Rosen suffered a gash to the face and Noblit was diagnosed with a concussion after the accident, their lawyer, Steven Halperin, told the paper.
Producers changed the staging of the show after the incident to prevent more injuries and invited the women to return for a full performance of the show, the Post reported.
"Billy Elliot", a musical about a working-class English boy who discovers a passion for ballet, won 10 Tony Awards in 2009, including a best actor award for the three lead actors who play the part of Billy.
