UPPER WEST SIDE — A free punk-rock concert turned into a small riot at Lincoln Center last night during the Rock N' Roll Circus, according to published reports.

About 100 fans of punk-rock band Japanther rushed the stage at Damrosch Park on Monday night at about 11:30 p.m., causing the show to be stopped, according to the New York Post.

"Oh, my God, it was crazy. I was off my feet for a whole minute. I thought I was going to die in there," Jessica Schmidt, 18, who attended the concert told the Post.

"I thought my friend was going to get trampled because he fell and hit his head pretty hard,” Schmidt added.

The free concert, which brought more than 1,000 people to Damrosch Park, took place in the Big Apple Circus tent, as the circus helped to put together the event.

"January 3rd lincoln center, free japanther show. tell all your friends to come and rage," the band tweeted last month.

On Tuesday afternoon, the band tweeted, "The Human Spirit Is Still Alive!"

Circus security responded quickly and removed the moshers within 20 minutes before anybody was seriously hurt or arrested.

The band was only able to play three songs before the concert was shut down, according to the Twitterverse.

"Lincoln center got overrun w clown painted fans of Japanther. Riot galore 3 songs in. show stopped. Only in NYC," Twitter user Empire365 wrote.
