Manhattan — The New York Giants failed to earn a playoff spot Sunday despite a victory against the Washington Redskins.

The G-Men needed some help from the Chicago Bears, who couldn't deliver. The Green Bay Packers beat the Bears 10-3 and took the playoff spot the Giants had hoped for.

Even with a 17-14 win at FedEx Field, the Giants failed to reach the playoffs for the second consecutive season.

The Giants run began to fall apart on Dec. 19 when they suffered an epic collapse against the Philadelphia Eagles, blowing a 21-point lead with only eight minutes left in the game.

A week later, they put their playoff hopes further in doubt after a 45-17 loss to the Packers.
