MANHATTAN — Rapper Lil' Wayne added to his prison cred Monday after Rikers Island officials banished him to solitary confinement, reported the New York Daily News.

Lil' Wayne, whose real name is Dwayne Carter, was just two months into serving a one-year prison sentence for criminal possession of a .40-caliber handgun when he was caught in May with music-related contraband — an MP3 charger and headphones.

Carter, who also goes by Weezy, could not start his punishment until Monday because all the isolation cells were occupied with violent offenders, according to the News.

Carter will serve the remainder of his sentence in solitary, according to the paper. Until Nov. 4, the date of his release, the rapper will spend 23 hours a day in an isolated cell without any fraternization with fellow inmates.

"He's not in an area where he is mingling with other inmates — ever," a Corrections Department source told the News.
