UPPER MANHATTAN — The Inwood and Washington Heights New York Public Library branches kicked off a new schedule of operating hours for library patrons this week, but luckily for residents, branches will remain open for the same amount of hours despite budget cuts.

At the Inwood branch at 4790 Broadway, the library will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday and Wednesdays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturdays.

At the Fort Washington branch, located at 535 W. 179th St., between St. Nicholas and Audubon avenues, patrons can visit from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, noon to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

The opening hours at the Inwood Public Library change Tuesday, Sept. 7, as they do at the Fort Washington Branch in Washington Heights.

Both branches are closed on Sundays.

The Washington Heights branch at 1000 St. Nicholas Ave., at West 160th Street, will remain closed until next year, due to a partial renovation.

Schedule changes were based on “a variety of factors, including attendance, proximity to other branches and peak hours, all to make cuts minimally disruptive,” according to a public statement from library officials.
