MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — A trial date was set Wednesday for a Jumeirah Essex House housekeeping manager charged with viciously killing a resident of the upscale building after she resisted his attempt to rape her.

The murder case of Derrick Praileau, 30, is set to go on trial September 22, almost one year to the day after he allegedly strangled and stabbed to death Andree Bejjani, a 44-year-old investment executive who lived in the Central Park South hotel.

Bejjani was found naked from the waist down with a 10-inch knife in her back and a jump rope around her neck, the New York Post reported.

It is not known whether Praileau is considering taking a plea. Praileau's attorney would not comment.
