MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — A man charged with raping two women in separate assaults on the same Hamilton Heights rooftop pleaded guilty to a lesser charge Thursday after prosecutors said they could not support either rape claim.

Taurean Williams was initially charged with raping and mugging a 17-year-old girl in October and a 45-year-old woman early on New Year's Day of 2010 — both on the top of 550 West 153rd Street.

Williams, 25, will likely serve one year total in a city jail for pleading guilty to a lesser charge of coercion in the case of the 45-year-old victim, and assault and criminal possession of stolen property in the October case involving the 17-year-old girl.

Since both charges he pleaded to are non-sexual, he will not have to register as a sex offender when he's released from jail.

Prosecutors said the stories of both alleged victim's changed several times.

They "could not conclude there was forcible sexual assault," Assistant District Attorney Scott Leet said Thursday in court, regarding the second set of rape charges.

Williams had faced up to 25 years in prison on each rape charge.
