MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — A man charged with burglarizing actress Amanda Peet's TriBeCa loft was acquitted on Monday after less than 1.5 hours of jury deliberations.
Henry Santos had been charged with breaking into the actress' Duane Street pad and stealing jewelry and electronics.
But a lack of evidence in the case led the jury to find the career criminal not guilty, jurors said.
Only one witness testified — the nanny who worked for Peet and her husband, screenwriter David Friedman.
“For us to convict on the nanny’s testimony — she had to be more descriptive," said a 34-year-old management consultant who served on the jury.
“She was very vague,” he added.
Another juror said Peet's celebrity status did not play a role in their decision.
"We were waiting for the bombshell that didn't come," said the juror, a 30-year-old cashier, who said they had been waiting for compelling evidence that never came.
Santos faced up to 15 years in prison if he had been convicted of the burglary charge.
