MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — Natavia Lowery's stepfather was arrested following a courtroom outburst during a pre-sentencing hearing for the convicted killer of "Realtor to the Stars" Linda Stein.

Daniel Walsh was taken into custody after reacting to a judge's third ruling against Lowery's attempts to fire her three trial attorneys and seek new counsel.

Lowery, 28, who was convicted on Feb. 23 of murdering her ex-boss after stealing more than $30,000 from her, made repeated requests during the trial to replace her lawyers with a family legal adviser. She also has said she would rather represent herself than continue with her current counsel.

"She has the right to change counsel," Walsh yelled after Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Richard Carruthers denied the request again, prompting court officers to remove Walsh from the courtroom through a side door. "We asked them for a legal expert and they were not hired."

Natavia Lowery confesses to beating her boss Linda Stein to death in her Fifth Avenue penthouse apartment days after the 2007 crime. Defense attorneys would later argue the confession was coerced by aggressive investigators.

Walsh was charged with criminal contempt of court, a misdemeanor. He and Lowery's mother had been escorted out of the courtroom on several previous occasions.

The day of Lowery's conviction both were removed after yelling that the decision was "bulls***."

Before Monday's outburst, Carruthers berated Lowery's family legal adviser, Paul Brenner, calling statements he made to the press about Lowery's trial attorneys "utterly irresponsible."

His statements were captured on video by DNAinfo.

"Anything I might have said was taken out of context at that time," Brenner replied.

The judge also said Brenner made mistakes in two separate cases before his bench, misspelling one client's name in filings and misrepresenting another in a manner "deserving of further inquiry."

Lowery is scheduled to be sentenced on April 28. She wants Brenner to handle her sentencing and pending appeal.

Walsh is expected to be arraigned in Manhattan Criminal Court later on Monday.
