MANHATTAN — A mother accused of murdering her 8-year-old autistic son at the Penninsula Hotel was not allowed to attend his funeral, previously sealed court transcripts revealed Tuesday.

Instead, as little Jude Mirra was laid to rest in Stamford, Conn. on Feb. 18, his mother Gigi Jordan was locked up in an Elmhurst Hospital prison ward.

Jordan, 49, was charged with killing Jude in a room at the Peninsula Hotel on Feb. 5. She also tried to take her own life that and has been in custody since.

Jordan's attorney, high-powered lawyer Gerald Shargel, tried to argue that the mom, who had increasingly become desperate over caring for her autistic son, should be allowed to attend his funeral.

"It's appropriate under the set of circumstances considering the mental health of my client because I think that this will just cause her immeasurable pain, and worsen an already sad and difficult situation," Shargel argued at her Feb. 16 arraignment.

But Assistant District Attorney Kerry O'Connell was fiercely opposed to the possibility of Jordan attending the funeral, even under the supervision of Department of Correction escorts.

"I think it's wholly inappropriate given the circumstances of this premeditated intentional murder of her only child," O'Connell said. "It shocks the conscience that she would make her request to be able to go and attend the funeral."

Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Charles Solomon appeared to agree.

"Frankly, I think it's at least inappropriate so that's denied," Solomon said.

Jordan made her first physical appearance in court on Tuesday. Shargel said he would be filing a bail application Thursday, requesting to have her moved to a secure psychiatric care facility.
