Former New York City Police commissioner Bernard Kerik is scheduled to be sentenced Thursday morning in U.S. District Court in White Plains.
Kerik faces a maximum sentence of 61 years in prison, and already agreed to pay $221,000 in fines. He could also face additional fines.
He pleaded guilty on November 9 to eight felonies — including making false statements on a tax return, false statements to the federal government and false tax returns.
A 61-page sentencing memo released to the press on February 9 painted Kerik as a self-serving and corrupt official. Prosecutors asked the judge to send an “unmistakable message” in the sentencing.
