MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — The mother believed to have killed her 8-year-old autistic son at the Peninsula Hotel has been indicted, a source familiar with the case said Thursday.

Multi-millionaire Gigi Jordan, 49, has retained high-powered criminal defense attorney Gerald Shargel, whose famous-client list includes mob boss John Gotti Sr., and his son, as well as Hamptons murderer Daniel Pelosi, accused David Letterman blackmailer Robert Halderman and convicted securities swindler Marc Dreier.

The indictment came as a bitter family feud surfaced over the body of Jude Michael Mirra. His biological father, Emil Tzekov, identified the body in the city's morgue earlier this week, where it had laid unclaimed for days.

But the Daily News reported that Jude's maternal grandmother, Kim Jordan, had suddenly asserted her rights to the child. Friends of Gigi Jordan had said she was estranged from her family.

Tzekov had officially renounced his rights to the child, so Jude could be adopted by Jordan's first husband, the News reported.

Since her Feb. 5 arrest, Gigi Jordan has been held Elmhurst Hospital Center in Queens.

When reached by phone Thursday, Shargel would not comment on Jordan's medical condition, but he said Jordan would most likely be arraigned from the hospital next week.

Jordan was charged with murder last week for allegedly killing her son, Jude Michael Mirra, with an overdose of pills. She then tried to kill herself.

Police received a frantic call from a relative of Jordan in Belgium who had received an e-mail from the mother threatening to kill herself and her boy. Police tracked them to their apartment at the Trump International Hotel and Tower in Columbus Circle and discovered that Jordan and Jude had checked into the Peninsula days earlier.
