MANHATTAN CRIMINAL COURT — A Club Duvet bouncer charged with two felonies in less than two weeks, including the alleged rape of a club-goer, has posted more than $50,000 in bail and is walking the streets again.

Hunter Dupree, 33, had been working as a bouncer for a security company for about eight years and was assigned to Duvet before it was shut down by the State Liquor Authority over the weekend.

"It is strange," said Dupree's lawyer Mustapha Ndanusa regarding his client's release, considering his two felony charges and a gun possession conviction in the 1990s.

Ndanusa said he did not know how Dupree came up with $50,000 in bail for the rape charge and $2,500 for robbery.

Dupree was accused of raping a 23-year-old woman in a bathroom stall on Oct. 25 at the Chelsea club.

He was arrested for rape on Dec. 2 outside of Manhattan criminal court, where he had arrived for a court appearance on the robbery charge, his lawyer said.

Dupree was one of four men accused of beating and robbing a male victim on Nov. 27 at 4:20 a.m. near 23rd Street and Park Avenue, a few blocks from Duvet.

He allegedly tore the jacket, boots, pants and hat off the victim while three male accomplices in their 20s punched and kicked him to the ground, according to the criminal complaint.

The father of a 6-year-old boy spent a day in jail for the robbery arrest. He also spent two days in Manhattan Detention Center before coming up with $50,000 after the rape arrest.

The embattled security guard was previously arrested in 1994, 2000 and 2001, according to the Department of Corrections.

The six-foot, 280-pound Dupree is still employed by the security company Duvet retained. Ndanusa did not know if Dupree had been reassigned to another club.

Dupree also works as summer security for the city's Parks and Recreation Department, Ndanusa said.

"He's just trying to become a productive citizen," Ndanusa said.

Both of Dupree's cases were adjourned to March.
