An African cabdriver is suing the NYPD for civil rights violations after he claims he was arrested on bogus charges and held in jail overnight.

Cabbie Warmann Dipoumbi, of Cameroon, was cruising for fares near Grand Central Terminal in 2008 when a routine traffic stop turned into an abusive nightmare, according to the complaint filed today in Manhattan Supreme Court.

Police Officer Armondo Urbina accused Dipoumbi of running a stop sign, and became so “aggressive and abusive,” he cabbie placed a call to 911, the lawsuit says.

Urbina arrested Dipoumbi and charged with several traffic violations, all of which have since been dismissed, the lawsuit says.

Dipoumbi says he was denied water while im custody and had to be "rushed to Bellevue Hospital," the lawsuit says.

His lawyer, Karen Winner, wrote in court documents that Urbina had another lawsuit against him alleging a similar incident.

The city's law department said they could not comment because they had not yet seen the suit.
