Judge Sets Kerik Trial Date

By DNAinfo Staff on October 27, 2009 8:48am

The trial of former police commissioner Bernard Kerik in Manhattan's federal court will begin on Nov. 9, a judge ruled Monday.

The trial was delayed after a Westchester judge threw Kerik in jail for revealing confidential information about his case.

Kerik faces corruption charges over accusations that while he ran the Department of Corrections he gave a construction company with alleged ties to the mob a city jail contract in exchange for elaborate renovations on his Bronx home.

Kerik's lawyers had appealed Westchester judge Stephen C. Robinson's decision to revoke the former top cop's bail.

Kerik, 54, has pleaded not guilty and will be held at Westchester County Jail in Valhalla until the trial begins, reported the New York Times.
