Downtown Docket: Bernard Kerik Gets Day in Court

MANHATTAN — When Bernard Kerik's trial kicks off, Senate Secretary Angelo Aponte may take the stand to testify about his role as CEO of an allegedly mob-tainted construction company, which renvoated Kerick's home. The former NYPD's commissioner's attorney could not confirm if Aponte will appear. [Daily News]

Jeffry Picower, a wealthy Madoff victim who was recently sued by the Madoff bankruptcy court trustee, was found dead Sunday in his pool in Palm Beach, Fla. As a beneficiary of the Ponzi scheme, Picower should have known that his profits were unusually large, the lawsuit claimed. Picower's cause of death will be determined in an autopsy. [NYTimes.com]

Gabriela Pochinki, the Argentinian opera singer who allegedly shoved and an Upper West Side restaurant manager and caused a scene at Nice Matin, was acting up it in the name of Michael Jackson, she told the Post. She was charged with criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and obstruction of governmental administration. [New York Post]
