MANHATTAN — Members of the popular Staten Island rap group Wu-Tang Clan were involved in drug sales, gun-running and even murder, according to newly unsealed FBI documents.
The files, posted online by blogger Rich Jones, reveal the FBI's criminal record of late Wu-Tang member Russell Jones, aka Ol' Dirty Bastard, who died of an accidental drug overdose in 2004.
The feds fingered Jones and other members of the group, accusing one Wu-Tang member of murdering a Staten Island man in 1997. The gun used to kill Robert "Pooh" Johnson was allegedly part of a weapons arsenal members of the group bought in Ohio, according to the documents.
“Johnson was an associate of the WTC who had a falling out with the group, and it is believed that his murder was ordered by someone within the WTC," the doucments state.
Additionally, Wu-Tang members were accused of being "heavily involved in the sale of drugs, illegal guns, weapons possession, murder, car jackings, and other types of violent crimes," the documents state.
Group members were also connected to members of the notorious Bloods gang, who were involved in drug trafficking on Staten Island, the file says.
The documents state that unidentified inviduals "carry out enforcement actions for the WTC which include beatings, shootings, and murder."
The FBI worked jointly with the NYPD to investigate Jones and other members of the Wu-Tang Clan, the report said.
