MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — A man who admitted to savagely beating a 29-year-old nurse who snubbed his advances at a Midtown bar was sentenced to 16 years in prison on Thursday.

Mbarek Lafrem said he followed his victim into a bathroom at the Social Bar, on Eighth Avenue and 48th Street, and attacked her, leaving her with a fractured skull and a broken eye bone, nose and jaw.

The woman was found unconscious on the floor of the popular spot's restroom by a friend after the March 11, 2010 attack

Lafrem, 32, pleaded guilty on July 18 to assault and attempted sexual abuse for the attack.

Prosecutor Shanda Strain asked for him to be sentenced to 20 years in prison, but Lafrem was promised less time by a Manhattan judge in exchange for his plea last month.

Lafrem had claimed he was too drunk to remember any of the incident and unsuccessfully tried to withdraw his plea before the sentencing Thursday.

He will be deported to Morocco after completing his New York State prison sentence.
