MANHATTAN CRIMINAL COURT — Braylon Edwards' attempts to toss out breathalyzer results as part of a DWI arrest last were postponed on Monday, but the free agent wide receiver used his trip to court as an opportunity to let Jets fans know he wants to remain in New York.

"I love being a Jet," Edwards said outside the Manhattan Supreme Courthouse, where he is due back in court May 16.

Edwards was pulled over on 12th Avenue near 34th Street in September because the tint on the windows in his luxury SUV were too dark, police said. But the Jets wideout found himself in police custody after he allegedly took a breathalyzer test that revealed his blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit.

Edwards denies driving drunk and has been challenging the on-scene breath test, the breathalyzer administered at the precinct and the reason why he was pulled over.

"When the time is right the case will be over with," Edwards told reporters Monday.

The 6-foot-5 wide receiver was already on probation for a 2009 fight outside a Cleveland nightclub when he was pulled over.

Edwards was one of the Jets best offensive players in 2010 and he was a part of the team that's gone to back-to-back AFC Championship games. He said wants to come back to the team and win a championship with them.

"If they give me the opportunity, I definitely want to come back," Edwards said Monday. "Maybe we'll win one."

Edwards is a free agent and can sign with any team once the NFL and the players union iron out a collective bargaining agreement. If he's convicted on the DWI, he would face suspension under the NFL's personal conduct policy.

But Edwards seemed confident about his fate Monday, saying, "We're going to wait and see what happens, but one more time — I love being a Jet."
