MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — The alleged accomplice of a man who's accused of killing East Harlem teen Cheyenne Baez after spraying gunfire into a crowd has been extradited to Manhattan to face murder charges.

Devon Coughman, 23, was arrested in Edgewater, N.J., on Nov. 1, roughly a month after prosecutors said he and Boris Brown, 20, of Harlem, botched a robbery attempt in the courtyard of the Jackie Robinson Houses on East 128th Street. Coughman allegedly yelled "shakedown" to announce the robbery before Brown opened fire, gunning down 17-year-old Baez, prosecutors said.

Coughman is expected to appear in Manhattan Supreme Court Wednesday to be arraigned on second-degree murder, weapons possession and other charges, law enforcement officials said. He was extradited from New Jersey last Wednesday.

"Although only one man may have pulled the trigger, both defendants are culpable under the law for the loss of a young woman's life," Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr. said in a statement when the shooter, Boris Brown, 20, was indicted earlier this month.

Baez, who attended the Urban Assembly School of Business for Young Women, was shot in the back and declared dead at Harlem Hospital.

Brown, who has several felony convictions, is next scheduled to appear in court on Jan. 18.
