CENTRAL PARK - A crime wave in Central Park has resulted in a 45 percent leap in incidents this year, according to NYPD statistics.

There were 89 reported crimes as of Oct. 17, in comparison to the 61 reported in 2009.

Fastest growing were grand larceny incidents, with 56 reported this year compared to just 35 in 2009 — an increase of 60 percent.

In September, three teenagers were indicted for committing a trio of muggings using a fake gun, DNAinfo reported.

In April, another three men were caught on tape mugging a man in Central Park at gunpoint.

There has also been a rise in the number of rapes reported in the park, with seven this year compared to none the year before.
