MANHATTAN SUPREME COURT — A Midtown fortune teller accused of selling paranormal services to people throughout the country pleaded guilty to another set of criminal charges on Monday.
Purported psychic Tammy Mitchell, 45, convinced a woman to pay her $40,000 to rid her of a curse and haunting from evil spirits, prosecutors said.
Mitchell allegedly told her victim she was doomed by a genetically-distributed curse passed on from her grandmother and the woman responded by paying her thousands over a 19-month period.
The woman even co-signed a car lease with Mitchell, who has since returned the vehicle, according to court papers.
Mitchell pleaded guilty Monday to fortune telling, a misdemeanor in New York, and grand larceny in the third degree.
Mitchell previously pleaded guilty to swindling a Wyoming man out of almost $500,000 in exchange for similar undeliverable services.
She was promised a total prison sentence of two to six years in both Manhattan cases and was ordered to repay a total of $107,000 in restitution.
Mitchell has convictions in New Jersey, according to reports. She was also wanted by a sheriff's department in Florida.
She is scheduled to be sentenced on April 7 in Manhattan Supreme Court.
