MANHATTAN — Mayor Michael Bloomberg shot down Vice President Joe Biden's claim that the the mayor had inflated cost estimates for holding the terror trials in New York, the Associated Press reported Tuesday.

The mayor said the $200 million per year projection was "reasonable," the AP said. Bloomberg noted that no one else in the administration had disagreed with the cost estimates before Biden’s remarks.

On Sunday's "Face the Nation," Biden said the cost estimate was exaggerated and a political maneuver.

“The mayor came along and said the cost of providing security is [$200] million dollars, which I think is more than will be needed,” Biden said on the program.

Eric Holder and the Obama administration have come under fire from downtown residents and local politicians who believe holding the trials downtown will wreak havoc on the area.

Last Friday, Rep. Peter King told the City Council that he believed the administration had decided to remove the trials from lower Manhattan, but had not yet found another location.
