BROOKLYN — Firefighters found a dead woman in the passenger seat of a car that was on fire on the Brooklyn Queens Expressway in Carroll Gardens Friday, according to the NYPD.

The FDNY responded to the scene between Hamilton Avenue and the Prospect Expressway and found an Infinity G35 on fire on the westbound side around 4 a.m., police and fire officials said.

After firefighters extinguished the blaze just after 5:20 a.m., a woman’s body was discovered in the front passenger seat.

She died at the scene, the NYPD said.

The NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad was working to determine whether the vehicle was involved in a crash or how it became engulfed in flames, police said.

Investigators were also trying to determine the woman’s identity.
