Person Fatally Struck by 6 Train at Astor Place During Rush Hour, FDNY Say

MANHATTAN — A person was fatally struck by a train at Astor Place Tuesday evening, officials said.

The victim was hit by a downtown 6 train at about 5:30 p.m., according to the FDNY and MTA.

There was no immediate information on the person's identity or how the person fell in front of the subway. 

Downtown 6 trains were running express from Grand Central to Brooklyn Bridge-City Hall after the incident. 

Some southbound trains were also terminating at Third Avenue-138th Street in The Bronx and 86th Street. 

Some southbound 5 trains were running on the 2 line from 149th Street-Grand Concourse to Nevins Street in Brooklyn. 

Delays were also expected on the 4 and 3 lines.
