Man Punches 3-Year-Old Autistic Child In The Face, Police Say

By Kate Pastor | October 9, 2017 12:23pm

MORRIS HEIGHTS — A man punched the 3-year-old autistic son of his girlfriend in the face Saturday night, NYPD officials said.

The 45-year-old man first flicked the child in the eye with his finger for looking in his direction, causing his mother to confront the man who had only recently come back into her life, police said.

She told the man that he needed to leave her University Avenue apartment, near West Tremont Avenue, so he hit the child about 10:19 p.m., police said.

The boy's left eye was swollen and red, according to police, and he was treated at St. Barnabas Hospital.

The man ran off and has not been arrested, police said Monday.

The suspect has been arrested three times before, but those records are sealed, police said.
