VIDEO: Group Knocks 12-Year-Old Boy to Ground on Eastern Parkway

CROWN HEIGHTS — Police are investigating after a 12-year-old boy was attacked by a group of kids on Eastern Parkway after he left services at a nearby synagogue.

The boy was walking on the north side of the parkway near Kingston Avenue at approximately 7 p.m. on Friday when at least two young boys walking in a group nearby hit and pushed him, police said.

The incident was caught on surveillance footage first obtained by CrownHeights.info, which shows the boy being shoved into a gate before falling to the ground. Several seconds after the assault, a young boy walking by appears to lend a hand to help the 12-year-old off the ground.

The boy had been walking from prayers at the Chabad Lubavitch synagogue at 770 Eastern Parkway when the attack took place, his father told the news website, which serves the Crown Heights Jewish community.

While a previous report indicated that the NYPD Hate Crime Task Force was looking at the case, police said Monday said the 77th Precinct is investigating.
