CROWN HEIGHTS — The blue bikes are finally coming to a corner near you.
New Citi Bike docks will begin to be installed in the neighborhood this week, according to the bike share company and the Department of Transportation.
An expansion of the bike share system is currently taking place in Harlem and Astoria and is headed to Prospect Heights, Crown Heights and a section of Prospect-Lefferts Gardens next.
Representative of DOT and Motivate — the company that runs the bike share program — told DNAinfo New York that residents can expect to see new docking stations installed in the area as soon as Friday.
The city unveiled the final locations for the new Citi Bike docking stations this summer after a year-long process to gather input from locals about where the bicycles should go.
A total of 27 docking stations will be installed in the expansion to Crown Heights and the surrounding areas, with bikes available from Flatbush Avenue to Rogers Avenue and from Atlantic Avenue to the north to Lefferts Avenue to the south.
