KINGSBRIDGE HEIGHTS — A Bronx dad was gunned down in front of his son during a double shooting outside the man's home Tuesday, police said.

Pedro Sanchez Almonte, 39, was with his son in the street outside the man's apartment building at 85 Strong St., near University Avenue, when two men — one on foot and the other on a bike — opened fire just before 5 p.m., NYPD officials said.

Almonte was fatally shot in the head in front of his son, witnesses and police said. A bullet also grazed the head of another man, 25, who was treated at Montefiore Hospital, police said.

"[Almonte's] son was crying, saying 'Wake up! Wake up! Wake up!' He was lying on the ground, facing up in the middle of the street. [His son] was going crazy, crying right by his dad," said witness Bolivia Aguasivas, 21.

A video provided by neighbors appeared to show Almonte lying on the pavement near a white minivan with its door open.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The shooters hadn't been arrested as of Wednesday morning, police said.

Investigators believe the shooting stemmed from a "prior incident" but didn't provide further details.
