Attacker Bashes Man in Head With Baseball Bat Near School, NYPD Says

By Ben Fractenberg | September 12, 2017 2:30pm

BROOKLYN — An attacker repeatedly bashed a man in the head with a baseball bat, leaving him critically injured near a East Flatbush school before fleeing in a car, police said.

The 22-year-old victim got into an argument with the suspect in front of 762 E. 48 St., around the corner from the entrance to P.S. 208 on Avenue D, at about 5:50 p.m. on Sept. 8, according to the NYPD.

The dispute escalated and the attacker slammed the victim over the head several times with the bat before fleeing north on East 48th Street in a gray Honda Accord, police said.

The victim's injuries were considered life-threatening, but doctors at Brookdale Hospital managed to stabilize him, police said.

It was not immediately clear what sparked the argument, an NYPD spokesman said.

The suspect was described as in his 40s, standing 5-foot-10 and weighing 170 pounds, according to police.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
