THE BRONX — A 15-year-old boy died Thursday morning after falling from a fifth-floor fire escape — which investigators believe he may been using to smoke, police sources said.

Leonardo Marmolejos was in his pajamas when he fell into a courtyard of the building at 2921 Briggs Ave., near East 199th Street, just after 6:15 a.m., police sources and fire officials said.

He was taken to Saint Barnabas Hospital, where he died, the NYPD said.

Investigators recovered a pipe and lighter from a windowsill in his room, leading them to believe he was using the fire escape to smoke, police sources said.
