QUEENS — A 73-year-old woman died six weeks after an SUV struck her in a Rego Park crosswalk, police said Monday.

The woman — whose name has not been released — was in a crosswalk on Saunders Street just before 3 p.m. on July 1, when she was hit by a black 2011 Honda Pilot as the driver turned left from Saunders Street onto 63rd Avenue, officials said.

The pedestrian, who lived in the neighborhood, was treated at Elmhurst Hospital for trauma to her head and right leg, officials said. She died Aug. 15, authorities said.

The driver, a 60-year-old man from Rego Park, stayed at the scene, police said. No arrests had been made and no summonses had been issued as of Monday morning, police said.

Police are still investigating, they said.

One pedestrian had already been hit at that intersection this year prior to this crash, city data shows.
